Here is an idea for use on a Good Friday service. It's simple but needs a bit of preparation.
The idea was born (as usual) on a scrap of paper whilst meditating around Isaiah 53 especially on the idea that He was broken for us.

I was particularly thinking about the sound of being broken... so I came up with the idea of making a model Christ that will be broken in the service..
So I made the model with craft "lolly" sticks from school supplies. and a glue gun. The model is about 5 ft high and used around 200 sticks. (see below).
The idea is this |(hope you think it isn't too cheesy or sacrilegious)..
the model; is at the front somewhere.
During service we will distribute to everyone a "lolly" stick with a sticky pad on one side.
We will explore the idea (in the talk/sermon) that our sin was laid on Him.. ending with an opportunity for response... get people to write on the stick in red pen either an expression of thanks or an area in their life they want to submit to the forgiveness of Christ. They come forward and using the sticky pad apply their stick on top of the model of Jesus (ie our sin laid on Him).. at the end we will have 3 or 4 minutes of quiet - then to finish... on screen ppt with Verses from Isaiah 53 about he brokenness of Christ.. in the silence a few helpers come forward and one by one break the sticks and form a pile of "rubbish" on a flower-stand plinth placed close.... some prayer focusing on he became nothing for us... Song (Jesus Christ I think upon your sacrifice, you became nothing...) - then to finish the whole evening our choir will sing a song entitled written in red..
that's the idea...
The model took about 2 hours to make - here are some pictures of the construction.

Start with a metal foil rough outline of shape .

the construction looks something like this - with glue gun set on cool it sets pretty quickly..

taking shape

final model - held up by a mic stand.....
I will post some "after event" pics to show what the final product looked like..
Hope this is of inspiration.......
